In recent years the department of Spatial Economics of VU university has investigated various aspects of the economic significance of cultural heritage. A main goal of this research was the assessment of the benefits associated with the presence of heritage and of investments in it. Four subthemes have been considered: location behavior of households, real estate valuation, location behavior of firms and tourism. Project leader was prof. dr. Jan Rouwendal.
