My name is Christine (Yin Man) Fong. I work at the department of Management and Organization as PhD candidate in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior. I obtained my Bachelor degree in Psychology at City University of Hong Kong and my Master in Organizational Psychology at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
My research interest lies in proactive behavior (i.e., Job crafting). I am interested in understanding how proactively changing your job (e.g., job crafting) affects yourself and your colleagues. Imagine you work in a sales team. Following the instructions of the manager, you and your team have been using the same selling strategy to sell your product for a long time. Recently, you come up with a better way to sell the product. You decide to use your new strategy and ignore the instructions. So now you work happily and productively because you are doing your job in the way you like. Despite these positive consequences, how will your colleagues feel? Will they perceive your changes are fair to them? Will they think your behavior is fair only if you are a respectful member in the work team? What other factors can make them feel better?
