Jost Sieweke is Assistant Professor in the Department of Management & Organization at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Jost examines antecedents and consequences of human errors, particularly in professional organizations (e.g., consultancies, accountancies, hospitals), and investigates how and under which conditions employees learn from their errors.
Together with Patrick Haack (University of Lausanne) and Lauri Wessel (FU Berlin), he is involved in a project founded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) that explores the microfoundations of institutions. Also, he analyses how the human capital of employees and managers influences performance at different levels of analysis (e.g. on the individual, team and firm level).
Jost received his PhD from the University of Duesseldorf (Germany) in 2012 with a thesis examining the contributions of Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of habitus to research in management and organization studies. He has been a visiting scholar in Vancouver (Canada) at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University (2015), and Stockholm School of Economics (2016).
Jost’s research has appeared in journals such as Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Business and Psychology, Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management, and Scandinavian Journal of Management.
