Frank Reinier Bruinsma (1960) studied Human Geography at the University of Utrecht and has written his PhD Thesis entitled ‘The impact of transport infrastructure on spatial patterns of economic activities’ (1994) at the Department of Spatial Economics of the VU University Amsterdam. He is affiliated as an associate professor to the Department of Spatial Economics. He is (co-)author of over 200 scientific and professional publications, published in national and international journals and books.

His main teaching activities concern courses in the Bachelor program Earth and Economics. Furthermore he supervises bachelor and master thesis in the field of transport and regional economics.
