Gerard van der Meijden (Raamsdonksveer, 1984) obtained his research master's degree (cum laude) in economics with a specialization in macroeconomics from Tilburg University in 2009. He got his PhD degree from Tilburg University in 2013, on the basis of his dissertation titled “The Macroeconomic Dynamics of Trade Liberalization, Resource Exploitation and Backstop Technologies”. He is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher on the economics of climate change in the Department of Spatial Economics at the VU University Amsterdam.

Gerard van der Meijden currently teaches a master’s course in environmental economics. In the past, he has taught several bachelor’s and master’s courses on macroeconomics and economic growth.
